The director of Romania’s largest oil company clearly explains the situation: maybe the Romanians have become accustomed to the idea that their resources will never end, but the reality is that the oil and gas pockets are almost empty, and there is a need of other discoveries, which demand money. But „the Black Sea is a phenomenal opportunity for Romania”.

Operation „Dividends from state-owned companies for the budget hole”, episode 4. The government also goes to Transelectrica

The Transelectrica National Power Grid Company, controlled by the Romanian state through the Ministry of Economy with over 58% of the shares, is the fourth major state energy company to which the Government appeals to try to „cushion” the budget deficit. The ministry calls for convening in this sense of the GMS on December 14. The convocation of the Assembly does not specify the exact amount requested in the form of dividends, but only mentions that the „Reallocation / redistribution of the amounts recorded in the accounts” of the carried forward and / or „other reserves” will be put to vote.
