President Iohannis hails Germany’s decision to get involved in Three Seas Initiative, participate in Bucharest Summit

President Klaus Iohannis on Monday hailed Germany’s decision to get involved in the Three Seas Initiative and participate in the Bucharest Summit due 17 and 18 September, as a partner, says a release by the Presidential Administration. The President made this statement upon welcoming at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace German Foreign Affairs Minister Heiko Maas, who has participated in the afternoon in the reunion of the Romanian Diplomatic Corps, at the Parliament Palace.

The price of electricity on the stock exchange has increased by 70% since the beginning of August

The average price of electricity on the spot market of the OPCOM stock exchange reached 281 lei per MWh on Tuesday, 70% higher than the one valid for August 1 and 166 lei per MWh, according to the data posted on the operator’s website stock.

Ministry of Economy: Transgaz Vestmoldtransgaz will be completed next week

Paroșeni, the first unit of CE Hunedoara in accordance with the European environmental legislation

Starting Monday, August 27, 2018, the Paroşeni Thermal Power Plant operates in accordance with the environmental values imposed by European legislation, the Energy Ministry has announced. After an investment of 65.3 million euros, the Paroşeni thermal power plant was equipped with a desulphurization plant that eliminates 94% of the SO2 emissions. “We are glad that we have the first power plant in CE Hunedoara in accordance with the European environmental legislation. This is of dual importance. On the one hand, the Paroşeni thermal power plant will be supplied with coal from the Jiu Valley, and on the other hand, any step taken towards meeting the environmental requirements by coal-fired power plants in Romania will ensure in the future an equally diverse energy mix”, says Energy Minister Anton Anton.
